L'Ancienne Gare
In a rural area with 6 acres of fields, garden, lawns, vines, swimming pool and tennis court, L’Ancienne Gare is a charming former railway station now completely renovated (track of course long removed). Extensions added more recently make it a large, seven bedroom and shower/bathroom, flexible and easy to run holiday home with a wonderful view to the floodlit village of Gassin and across the wooded hills of the Maures.
Back routes allow easy access to the beaches of Pampelonne (12 km) and those on the south side of the Peninsula of St Tropez (5 km), as well as to the hilltop villages of Grimaud and Ramatuelle. At 8km is St Tropez, possibly the best holiday town in the South of France for art, fashion, history, people-watching, huge yachts and night life. Good restaurants are all around – Gassin (2 km), Gigaro – (6 km) Ramatuelle (6 km), Grimaud (6 km) and St Tropez (8 km) plus endless beach restaurants. There is a cycle track running from the back gate of the property to La Croix Valmer which is useful for shaded running and cycling. There are myriad mountain biking routes in the immediate hills.
Accommodation includes an open plan kitchen and dining area to the large, high-ceiling living room with TV, as well as fixed and portable sound systems. This open plan room has three sets of doors on to a wide south-facing terrace which has a main dining table and sitting area. A principal bedroom also has French windows onto this terrace, a generous wall of cupboards and en-suite bathroom.
Upstairs are two double bedrooms, both with air conditioning. One room has a large en-suite shower room. There is a bathroom and separate WC opposite the other bedroom. On the ground floor, by the entrance hallway of the house, there is a further bathroom and a separate WC.
Part of the house has been entirely refurbished. This includes a small living room, four bedrooms and three bathrooms, all with silent air conditioning. The small living room is perfect for relaxing in front of a large TV (with most digital services), or for a quiet space to read or to work at the desk, with a printer. At one end, it opens on to a side terrace, with seating and a view of a lawn, mediterranean boxed planting and vines beyond. After the living room are the bedrooms which comprise two superb ensuite, double bedrooms, along with a further double bedroom and a double bunk bed room, sharing one shower room. Great care has gone into the design, colour, materials and art, making for uniquely comfortable spaces.
With eclectic and attractive furnishings to a good standard, the house has hand made, tiled floors, with rugs throughout. Although, rarely required the pool can also be heated. Finally, the house has fibre to the door which with a mesh system means there is exceptionally fast wifi/internet to most spaces.
