This pretty little cottage has lots of charm and character and is in a superb location, just a short walk to Lac du Guerlédan, Brittany’s largest lake, which has a sandy beach and is great for swimming and other water sports. The interior is simply furnished with exposed beams and  traditional Breton furniture. The delightful French owners live in an adjacent property and if clients have a boat they are welcome to park it in their garden.

The property is in a small hamlet called Keriven, 2km from the village of Caurel on the northern side of the lake. There are a couple of nice restaurants down by the lake, about 1km, tennis courts about 2km, and horse riding 7km. The nearest town is Mur de Bretagne 7km, which has a Friday evening market with live entertainment. The lake is popular for water sports during the summer; water-skiing, canoes, pedaloes for hire and carp fishing. There is also a boat-trip around the lake, which can take 3 hours but stops off at places where you can have a walk around or a picnic and then be picked up by another boat later on. This area is ideal for country cycling, walks and picnics; with marked paths in the Forest of Quénecan on the south side of the lake. Pontivy, an attractive medieval town, 25km, is well worth a visit. It has a large swimming pool. Many of the small towns and villages in this area are lively in the summer with cultural activities and local fêtes The south coast is just over an hour’s drive. The property is about an hour and a half from St Malo or Roscoff.

Ground floor

  • Open plan living room with sofa, dining area, large fireplace with wood burning stove (plenty of wood provided), TV,CD,DVD
  • Kitchen area with 4-ring hob, oven, microwave, fridge and electric kettle and crepe maker
  • Outhouse with washing machine

First floor

  • Stone stairs to bedroom with two double beds. Cot
  • Through to shower room with hand basin and WC

N.B. there is a low window in the bedroom so it may not be suitable for small children. In our opinion the cottage would be best let to a maximum of two people but the owners don’t mind having four

Outside

There is a small private garden, 50m², with lots of flowers and a south facing terrace, barbecue and garden furniture for outdoor meals
